Government Overseas Award 2010
Scholarship to the National University of Singapore
The
Fiji Government through the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National
University of Singapore invites applications for award tenable from January
2010 to December 2010.
Things to consider when applying for the scholarship:
i)
Applicants should note that the scholarship
is granted ONLY for a 1 year Masters in Public Management and on a
competitive basis.
ii)
Awards must be taken
up in the year in which the award is made.
iii)
Requests for deferments
will not be considered.
iv)
The Scholar must
return to his or her own country at the end of the scholarship and will be
bonded according to the PSC Scholarship conditions.

Must be a citizen
of
ii)
Should be 35 to 45
years of age as of date of commencement of studies.
iii)
Candidates must
hold a Bachelor degree (or equivalent qualifications) from a recognized
University in their home country.
iv)
Standard of
Bachelors degree with at least an average B; or they should be expected to
achieve those results in coming examinations.
v)
To be eligible for
selection, applicants should have completed relevant qualifications within the
last five years preceding the year of application. For those applicants who
completed an appropriate qualification three or more years ago, preference will
be given to those who can also show relevant, related work experience.
vi)
Have a minimum of
eight years working experience, preferably in the area of policy making and
public management
i)
Applications from
Civil Servants must be submitted through their Permanent Secretary/Heads of
Departments for their comments and assessment.
ii)
Applications from the
Private Sector must be endorsed by the Employer for their comments and
assessment.
iii)
Applications not
assessed will not be considered
Each
applicant must submit a complete application package which includes the following:
i)
Completed admissions application form
ii)
Application fee – US$27/Singapore $40.00 is required for each application.
A Bank draft needs to be attached (drawn on a bank in
iii)
Official transcripts and certificates
iv)
Standardised test scores (for those applicants whose undergraduate
programme was not conducted in English)
v)
Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score (if available).
vi)
Curriculum vitae/resume
An applicant need to list
one’s academic, professional and personal achievements including significant
appointments that the person has held. For each appointment, one needs to
indicate the organisation, the period (include month and year) during which
they had held the appointment, the major responsibilities held, the starting
and ending salary and the name and title of the supervisor. Hobbies and
interests are also to be mentioned.
vii)
Essays (500 word limit)
One needs to type and name the programme they are
applying for in the upper right hand corner of each page and clearly mark each
essay “Essay # __”
Masters in Public Management:
Essay 1: Describe
an instance which showed leadership in addressing a public problem.
Essay 2:
What is the most critical public problem facing your
organization or
community? What should be done
about it?
Essay 3:
How do you see the MPM programme
helping you to
further your personal and
career goals?
viii)
References
Three references in English
from individuals who know you and your work. It is important that you select
referees who are able to comment on your abilities in the professional setting.
One of your referee must be the Permanent Secretary of your Ministry or the
Chief Executive Officer of your Statutory Board.

passport/identity card and birth certificate
