Each year, the Government of the Republic of Fiji, awards a number of scholarships that are tenable in local institutions, to meet the human resource needs of the country. Approximately $30million is spent annually, by Government for this purpose.

Accordingly, applications are invited from Fiji citizens for the following :

Public Service Commission Local Scholarships
Multi Ethnic Affairs Scholarships
Student Loan Scheme

The iTaukei Scholarships will be advertised separately by the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs. Students who are already on Scholarship and studying under Fijian Government awards (except Foundation/Form 7) or who were, in the past, sponsored by Government Scholarship/Student Loan Scheme, and are currently serving a Bond will NOT be considered. Students should attach evidence of Bond being fully served by 1^st January, 2012;

Employees from the private sector MUST submit a letter of recommendation from the CEO of the Organization.

Civil Servants must apply only after the issuance of the Public Service In-Service Scholarship Circular.

Applicants should lodge separate applications for admission to the respective Tertiary Institutions of their choice.

PSC Local Scholarship

Target Group: All Fiji citizens

Undergraduate Age Criteria: 18-35 years by January 1^st, 2012

Postgraduate Age Criteria: 45 years by January 1^st, 2012

Applicants must note the following minimum requirements:

Students currently in the Foundation Year or Degree programme with ‘B’ average must submit their Semester I & II results as soon as they are released. Applications will not be considered if semesters I & II results are not provided
Form VII with 2011 FSLC marks of

270/400 and above are eligible to apply for undergraduate programs.
300/400 marks for MBBS.

Applicants for Postgraduate programmes must have 5 years work experience and hold a first Undergraduate qualification with a grade point average of 2.5.

Multi Ethnic Affairs Scholarship

Target Group: The non-iTaukei Fiji Citizens earning less than $15,000 annual income.

Age Criteria: No age criteria.

Essentially one sibling in a family will be considered.
Fully supported by parents or guardians/spouse whose combined annual income (from all sources) does not exceed $15,000; evidence of income, otherwise a Statutory Declaration signed by a JP or a Commissioner of Oaths has to be included in the application.

Recent curriculum vitae.
Copies of original FSLC/FSFE/Tertiary academic transcripts.
A full extract (A4 size) of birth certificate.
A recent passport photo.
Support letter from employer if working
Evidence of income of parents/ legal guardians/spouse ( if applying for MEA Scholarship only)
A hard copy of the online application must also be sent to the PSC Scholarship Office

Applicants are encouraged to access the forms from the PSC website – www.psc.gov.fj under Scholarship or collect from the Commissioners’ Offices, Educational Offices, Labour Offices and District Offices.

Applicants can also visit the Government Information Referral Center – GIRC (former Fiji Visitors Bureau Office, Suva) to apply for scholarship or call 132777 for assistance.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

Applications for the PSC Local, Multi Ethnic Affairs and Student Loan Scheme close on Friday 25^th November, 2011.

Incomplete and late applications will NOT be considered.
