The Government of the Republic of the Fiji Islands, each year awards a number of scholarships tenable at Overseas Institutions, to meet the needs of the Public Service and also the broader human resource requirements of the Nation. Fiji Citizens Scholarships recipients gets the chance to study in Australlia, New Zealand and Malaysia. Field of studies ranges in various areas from Undergraduate, Post Graduate and Masters. Areas of study are reviewed annualy which covers all areas of need from Agriculture,Technical, Energy, Engineering, Accounting and Human Resources.
Below are minimum requirements to consider when applying for a Overseas Scholarship and they are subject to change every year:
ELIGIBILITY CRITERION
- Must be a Fiji citizen
- Must not hold a permanent residency status of another country
- Must not hold a passport of another country
- Must not be a recipient of another scholarship
- Must not be under a bond or student loan scheme arrangement with a Government agency
- Must submit offer letter from overseas institution once shortlisted for interview.
Undergraduate Eligibility Criteria
- Must have an FSLC minimum aggregate mark of 300 out of 400 which should include English and three other subjects
- Must not hold an undergraduate or postgraduate degree
- Must be at least 18 years of age by January in the year scholarship is advertise
- Mature applicants should have at least 5 years work experience with relevant tertiary studies or work related training
- Applications from Civil Servants MUST be endorsed by their Permanent Secretaries, submitted with TNA
- Applications from employees in the private sector MUST be submitted with a recommendation from the CEO of the organization
Postgraduate Eligibility Criteria
- Must have at least 5 years relevant work experience
- Must hold a first degree grade point average score (GPA) of 2.5
- Must not be more than 45 years of age
- Applications from Civil Servants MUST be endorsed by their Permanent Secretaries, submitted with TNA
- Applications from employees in the private sector MUST be submitted with a letter of recommendation from the CEO of the organization
Mature Age Applicants – Postgraduate Studies
- Must have 10 years relevant work experience
- Achieved a pass grade at either the Form 6 or Form 7 or equivalent level
- Must have completed relevant tertiary studies or some form of continuing education
- Must be under 45 years of age
- Applications from Civil Servants MUST be endorsed by their Permanent Secretaries, submitted with TNA
- Applications from employees in the private sector MUST be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the CEO of the organization.
