The purpose of the Public Service Commission is to
promote excellence in public service delivery. To achieve this, the PSC has
the statutory powers to review the Machinery of Government in order to ensure
its efficiency and effectiveness in fulfilling Governments public sector
management objectives. The PSC also has the Constitutional and Statutory powers
to be the central personnel authority in the Public Service. Following the delegation
of much of its Constitutional authority to Departments in 1998, the PSC focus
will be on Strengthening Leadership Capacity in Departments and developing a
Human Resources Management Framework for the Public Service workforce that ensures
continuing innovation and improvement in Public Services delivery.
