An E-government online scholarship application awareness is currently being conducted by the Public Service Commission’s Scholarship Division.
Public Service Permanent Secretary, Mr Parmesh Chand says the awareness is a first of its kind conducted for all school leaving students from forms 6 and 7 on learning how to apply for scholarships online.
“This is an ongoing exercise for future applicants, since all scholarship application forms are accessible via the internet.”
He added with current advancement in technology, Government through ITC and the Ministry of Education has enabled such services to be provided to students through the identification of schools in the four divisions as E- gov centers.
This has further enhanced the Public Services objective of enhancing efficiency and service delivery to customers.
“Students are enthusiastic about this training, since there are live demonstrations where participants have hands on training as well as instruction brochures in case they don’t miss out any stage.”
He added students are required to have soft copies of their relevant documents saved and attached to their application forms in order to finalize their transaction or else their application form will not be valid if these documents are not attached.
E-government online scholarship awareness was conducted during the recent school holidays for forms 6 and 7 students from Nausori and Suva schools. Similarly a two and half week workshop was conducted in the Northern division from 12- 28 September; Tailevu to Sigatoka areas 26 September to 1st October; Suva central and Navua areas from next week.
The awareness is a first of its kind workshop conducted country wide.
