RIGHTSIZING AND RESTRUCTURE FOR EFFICIENCY: CHAND
The Permanent Secretary for the Public Service, Mr Parmesh Chand says work on the rightsizing and restructure of human resources of the public service is all about improving and bringing about greater efficiencies within the civil service.
Mr Chand said a committee comprising of Permanent Secretaries from the central agencies viz Prime Minister’s Office, National Planning, Finance, Public Service and the Public Enterprises have been meeting on a regular basis to review progress so far.
He said that the “Consultancy Study on Organisational Review of Civil Service and Determination of its Optimum Size” is part of the Reform.
He added with the expression of interest for consultancy assignment advertised last month PSC has received a total of 5 applications from interested parties. A decision on this is yet to be made.
The primary objective of the consultancy assignment is to determine the optimum size and structure of the civil service to complement Government’s overall reform agenda. The study will also focus on determining the optimal staff establishment of each entity of government and the civil service as a whole as well as undertaking of job evaluation and matching of skills to jobs review.
