PSC COMMITTED TO CHARTER

The Public Service Commission [PSC] has realigned its work programme and reform activities to be fully compliant with Pillar 4 of the Peoples Charter for Change, Peace and Progress.

Mr Parmesh Chand, Permanent Secretary for Public Service made these comments while making a presentation this morning to the fourth meeting of the National Peoples Charter Advisory Council [NPCAC].

Pillar 4 of the Peoples Charter deals with enhancing of public sector efficiency, performance effectiveness and service delivery.

Mr Chand said that the PSC is committed to its vision of building a new culture in the civil service which is performance and service oriented as well as accountable and ethical. He said this is also embodied in Pillar 4 of the Charter. With regards to Civil Service Reforms, Mr Chand informed the Council that this is very much on track and going as per plan.

The Reforms in civil service are focused on reducing the size of the service and its operating expenditure and bringing about increased levels of efficiencies through restructuring, training and manpower development and better management of human resources throughout the civil service.
