More than 70 Service Excellence Awards Evaluators will be trained over the next two weeks by the Public Service Commission in its bid to accelerate the inculcation of quality management systems and service excellence within all Government agencies.
The Service Excellence Programme 2010 which was launched by the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama on May 19 involves training middle managers and senior civil servants to become evaluators who in turn will assess government agencies other than their own and recommend opportunities for improvement.
The Permanent Secretary for the Public Service, Mr Parmesh Chand who is also the chair for the Service Excellence Awards Committee says that the training of the evaluators is timely in that this month coincides with the TPAF’s Productivity month.
“PSC continues to have regular meetings in their commitment to integrating the use of the framework into all Government agencies, and as such it is a mandatory requirement for all Government agencies take on the theme and “strive for service excellence through changes and reforms.”
Evaluators will be allocated into teams by the end of the month and commence the evaluation on submissions made by government agencies before they undertake a “site visit” to their allocated organisation in August leading up to the Awards night on the October 29th when agencies will know how the outcome of their participation.
The PSC has also maintained the momentum from the Service Excellence/Civil Service Week in that each alternate week Government agencies will again bring to the forefront their services through displays and exhibitions at the Government Information and Referral Centre in its effort to promote change in all Government agencies.
This commenced with the Fiji Prisons and Corrections Service promoting and its work activities to members of the public.
Next week the Ministry of Health will be promoting their range of services and assistance to members of the public from June 15th -19th beginning from 8am-4.30pm
