MINISTRIES TO PROMOTE SERVICES THROUGH GIRC

   

The Permanent Secretary for the Public Service, Mr Parmesh Chand says all government ministries and departments are invited to use the Government Information Referral Centre (GIRC) former Fiji Visitor’s Bureau, to promote the various services and programmes that each ministry runs for members of the public.

Following a PSC Circular that was issued last week, Mr Chand said all Ministries and Department’s need to maximize the publicity of the wide range of services and assistance provided by Government.

“Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government would be able to use the front porch of the centre to stage displays on a rotational basis” he said.

He added that while staff of GIRC will assist in the setting up of displays for the respective ministries of the week, all ministries and departments would need to provide their own service customer reps to man their displays and assist members of the public with queries.

The following criteria are:

(a) Displays to be undertaken during normal working hours (8.00am – 4.30pm) and Saturdays from 8.00am – 1.00pm;

(b) Ministries and Departments are to provide own equipment, furniture, manpower and associated accessories (brochures, forms, pamphlets etc) for your displays and demonstrations;

(c) Normal dress attire to be worn;

(d) Grog drinking, playing of cards and other board games are prohibited;

(e) Observance of the Public Service Code of Conduct and Public Service Values are to be strictly adhered;

(f) All expenses (including overtime, meals, etc) are to be borne by the Ministries and Departments.
