TRAINING ESSENTIAL FOR PROGRESS
Twelve civil servants from various government ministries and departments will be leaving our shores this week and the coming month to pursue further studies in universities overseas.
With their programmes varying from Masters, Postgraduate studies to attending regional seminars, Acting Permanent Secretary for the Public Service, Mr Peni Ratumaitavuki said staff training and development in the public service is highly prioritized and is fast becoming one of the vital components of encouraging professional people within the service, to pursue further studies in order to up-skill and enhance both their knowledge and that of the organizations.
“Over the years, the Training Division of the PSC, through the Centre for Training and Development (CTD) has provided training opportunities to all cadres of civil servants,” he said.
He highlighted that PSC is currently granting scholarships to civil servants to attend training and workshops overseas in areas where the country most needs skills and expertise given our development priorities.
He added that the Public Service has grown and diversified over the years, due in part to friendly governments, international and regional organizations and other donor agencies.
